The Nuffield Foundation invites applications under its social science small grants scheme, which can include education. Priority is given to the following activities:
•projects that develop social science research capacity particularly by supporting the work of those new to social science research;
•self-contained or pilot or preliminary projects that address the wider objects of the foundation, namely a broad concern with the advancement of social well-being;
•outstanding small projects in the social sciences.
Applicants must hold permanent contracts, or research contracts of three years and more, at UK universities or independent research institutes. Projects may be undertaken outside the UK.
Awards are normally worth up to £7,500, although in exceptional circumstances awards of up to £12,000 may be made. Grants may cover costs for research assistance, materials, data collection and analysis, and travel and subsistence in the UK and overseas.
